THE 5 MAJOR MILESTONES OF BUILDING WITH KIMBERLEY

Here are 5 of the major milestones that you can expect when you build with Kimberley.

 

1. STAKE OUT DAY

Stake out day marks the OFFICIAL beginning of construction of your Kimberley Home on your homesite, plotting your home for excavation. In new communities and subdivisions, the placement of your home (known as the plot plan) is pre-determined with the development of the community. On acreage properties, you can decide where on your property you would like to plot your home. Kimberley’s team of experts will consider both your home design and unique property to guide you in making this decision when you are building on acreage land.

Sometimes our clients come to us with land already, or sometimes we help them find it. Finding land can be an overwhelming part of your journey, which is why our team here at Kimberley Homes is here to help make it easy. We can help you narrow down your search, and find the perfect homesite or piece of land to capture the vision you have for your custom home. After we find the perfect spot for your home, we will design your home with your vision in mind while also maximizing the opportunities provided by the lot itself.

2. INTERIOR SELECTIONS

One of the most exciting parts of your Kimberley homebuilding experience is choosing your interior selections! Everything from cabinet layouts and colours, to choosing your backsplash and flooring. By the end of the interior selections day, our clients will have finalized almost EVERYTHING when it comes to finishing touches – cabinets, paint, railing, tile, flooring, fireplace details, and more.

3. ELECTRICAL WALK-THROUGH

At this stage, we meet with you, the site superintendent, and electrician on-site and choose where you want your lights, pot lights, plug placements, sound systems, security systems, and more. We go with you through the entire house – room by room – to make sure you know where all the fixtures, plugs, and everything else to ensure that all the placements make sense with how you’re going to use them in your home.

4. FINISHING & PRE-TILE WALK-THROUGHS

You’ll do a walk-through with the finisher at this stage of construction. Our finishing work includes things like baseboards, trim, and casing around the windows – BUT there will also be more custom finishing items if you choose to include in your home, like benches and cubbies or detail in your crown molding. You’ll also still have a few chances to make some selections and customizations at this point in the process.
before possession day for your pre-tile walk-through. We’ll visit each space in your Kimberley home where there will be tile and make sure that it matches the exact vision that you have in mind.
We confirm details like the direction of the tile, capture the backsplash patterns, and we even use tile samples on-site to make sure the space is coming together!

5. POSSESSION DAY!

The best and most exciting milestone of them all – GETTING THE KEYS TO YOUR FINISHED KIMBERLEY HOME! Our team will do a final walk-through with you to ensure that everything is just as you imagined it would be, and you can officially move-into your brand new home in the Okanagan!
